We always wonder what life would be like on other planets. Now, we don’t have to wander too much about it because there are plenty of movies about aliens. Here are the top 10:
1. Brightburn
The story starts when a comet that has a human baby comes crashing into a farm. A couple adopts the kid and it turns out the child has some powers that could prove harmful to everyone. He grows up to be a villain nobody would want to mess with. The body count at the end of the movie became far more than what we were expecting and that is always a good thing.
2. Suicide Squad 2
The DC film features comic book characters like Harley Quinn and Peacemaker fighting a huge alien from outer space that is attempting to destroy an entire village. They use their superpowers but not before running into some stress along the way. The cast is tremendous as it involves John Cena, Idris Elba, Sylvester Stallone, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
3. Alien
Ridley Scott directed this horror classic that spawned a lot of sequels and parodies. Sigourney Weaver as the lead paved for her to become a scream queen. The special effects are nice so you can’t blame yourself if you get nightmares thanks to the monster in this movie.
4. Aliens
Have you ever experienced watching a sequel that turns out to be better than the original? This is one of those rare instances since the sequel is directed by none other than James Cameron. Sigourney Weaver returns as the lead heroine and there is no doubt you will never be bored throughout its entire runtime.
5. Slither
James Gunn is responsible for writing and directing this outrageous witty and superb movie. It centres around a town where aliens are slowly trying to take over. It all starts with that classic bathtub scene where a worm creeps onto the person taking a bath. From there, the movie is full of twists and shocking turns that we could have wanted but got anyway.
6. Signs
When you have M Night Shyamalan directing and writing a movie, you know it is going to be full of twists and turns. That is exactly what happens in this mystery as crop circles start appearing at a family’s farm. Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix star in this movie which will lead you to conclude that the acting is superb.
7. The Thing
When you encounter a movie that is an adaptation of a John Carpenter movie then you should be really happy about it. It is one of those exciting 1980s movies that will forever remain a horror classic as a group realizes there is an alien invasion underneath them in the snow. There is a fair amount of gore in this movie and that is always good news.
8. Independence Day
To many people, this is Will Smith’s star-making performance. He is in the lead role as the United States is grappling with an alien attack. The visual effects in this movie are stunning and you can see right away how good these people are with the amazing story.
9. Guardians of the Galaxy
Every character in this movie is an alien as you have a bumbling tree who says nothing but Groot and you have a green lady alien. Starlord played by Chris Pratt is the lead character here and you don’t even need to know any MCU background in order to enjoy this film one way or the other. The film did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel that involved them going up against another powerful alien who they thought to be Starlord’s father.
10. Men in Black
You can’t have a list of top movies about aliens without including the Men in Black. It is most known for that device that makes people forget what they just encountered. The title refers to a secret government agency that already knows aliens exist. They decide to track them all down before they do anything harmful to the planet. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones star in this classic that spawned a remake and sequel. None can compare to the original though.
