Movies About Animals
Animal films have been around almost as long as movies themselves. There’s something to be said for the presence of large, mysterious animal films in the marketplace. Animal films give audiences a reason to get out and see movies, and they can sometimes feel a little bit like documentaries. This makes them great for people just looking for an excuse to see a film with a theme or story about animals. The following are some movies about animals:
1. The Tiger Rising
Can we talk about how amazing The Tiger Rising is without saying how much we love it? We love everything about this movie, from the beautiful cinematography to the soundtrack to the characters who are somehow all so incredibly endearing. Do we have to say that?
2. Puss in Boots
This movie follows a group of mice called Puss in Boots, who learn that it’s not necessarily a good thing to do. Every day they go to work, they get to choose between two people, Junko and Natsumi, who they love. One day they get a second chance at love and decide to run away together. They make it to the island and take care of the baby kangaroos, but when they get there, they find that the baby kangaroos aren’t Australian kangaroos but sheep.
3. Jurassic World Dominion
If we’re being honest, we wish there was a fantasy version of Animal House where we didn’t have to watch all that disgusting, low-class, animal-human interaction. We want to sit back and watch The Lion King on the big screen, but there’s not enough space. So the only other option is to make the best of what we have and give us a historical treat like Jurrasic world domination.
4. DC League of Super Pets
We love this movie so much that we have a rule when we see this in theaters that we’re going to High School Musical! We know nothing can top the sound, visual, and aural effects of High School, so we’re going to go out on a high and make our way through the movie in record time!
5. The Bad Guys
This is one of those movies where the bad guys are the most interesting characters because they have the most to offer. You see them for the wrong reasons and start wondering about them. This often happens, making you want to see the rest of the movies again and again. The Lion King does the same thing since it wants to give you an insight into these animals and their culture.
6. Two Brothers
This is one of those movies you need to see three times in your lifetime. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out. It’s a classic and is still going strong 50 years later. Like all animals, two brothers have a purpose and families to care for. There are simply no other words for it. The Lion King is classic and timeless because it speaks to us all now. We love seeing these two brothers together and can’t wait to see their families grow up and have kids.
7. Best in Show
This incredible movie starts with a cover story about the real Georgie The Cat and his friend Willy The Horse. Then, it takes the viewer on a journey through time, to the point where the future is decided by what the characters eat and drink. At the same time, it follows the characters on a quest to find a missing friend.
8. Ice Age
This film started it all when it came to the best of the showroom. The opening sequence shows the characters walking around in the Old World, including a charming sequence where they try to convince mice to eat cheese. Then, in the next moment, we see them in the New World, running around in the dirt with no shoes on, trying to eat cheese again. Best in Show is also one of the first features to include a score by Leonard Cohen.
9. Because of Winn-Dixie
This is the classic tale of two mothers who are determined to make their children’s dinner whenever they walk in the door. In this case, the child is a small breed of bitch called the Winnie the Pointer. Best in Show is also a really fun movie to watch with friends because the cast and crew are just so darn fun. Best in Show is also a great film to watch if you are interested in children, as the plot is similar to Cinderella.
10. RATATOUILLE
This is another classic film about food and its relationship with food production. It follows two families in France, the Genovese, and the Rachmaninoff, who are trying to make their living as food sellers. This is one of the first movies to feature an all-black cast, which was a first for Hollywood. Best in Show is also a fun film to watch with your friends because the cast is such a great group.
Conclusion
There are many different kinds of animal films, but the main thing to keep in mind is that they all share one thing: They are about animals. And if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal, or if you’ve ever wanted to participate in a sport or two involving animals, these are the movies for you.
